Quantum computing has taken another step toward the future. At COMPUTEX 2025, NVIDIA announced the opening of G-QuAT (Global Research and Development Center for Quantum-AI Technology Business) in Japan. The center’s centerpiece is ABCI-Q, the world’s largest supercomputer dedicated exclusively to quantum computing research.
Developed in partnership with Japan’s National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), ABCI-Q combines the power of 2,020 NVIDIA H100 GPUs with the NVIDIA Quantum-2 InfiniBand networking platform and CUDA-Q™ technology, creating a hybrid framework capable of handling large-scale quantum workloads. In addition to its impressive performance, ABCI-Q connects multiple quantum computing technologies, including:
• Superconducting qubits from Fujitsu,
• Neutral atoms from QuEra,
• Photonic processors from OptQC.
This integration of quantum hardware and accelerated AI will enable advances in areas such as quantum error correction, algorithm development, and exploration of practical applications, with direct impact on industries such as healthcare, energy, and finance.
